Camera, Lights, Action! – Dog Blog 8.3.08

I feel every dog should make their TV debut by the age of 5. So at 5¼, fame - and possible fortune - have been slow in coming. I’ve been overlooked far too long.

I’m getting my pal Al to drive me to Channel M in Manchester on Monday. It’s a long time since he sat in the glare of studio lights in his alleged BBC days. He says he’s now a poacher-turned-gamekeeper after years on telly. Good career move – as a faithful gun dog I’ve always been a little uncomfortable with the concept of poaching.

Of course, I don’t see this as 15 minutes of fame but the first step in a continuum of media adulation. And not before time. I just hope Al doesn’t let me down on my debut by turning up at the studio in shorts or wearing his knitted hat from Ecuador with ears. Yes, ears!

I’ve decided to wear brown and pink – I always think they’re such warm colours under lights. I just hope that hunky black Lab at No 77, Max, is watching Channel M on Monday morning.
