Dietary Requirements - Aster’s training Dog Blog – 6.3.08

Well, I nearly choked on my measly portion of breakfast cereal this morning!

Right there in the Daily Telegraph was an article about a survey revealing that one in three dogs is overweight. A chance would be a fine thing! My training diet is a national disgrace. I rather envied Scooby, a fat mongrel featured in the story. I fantasized about what mouth-watering titbits she was getting.

The story got worse. Apparently, the most overweight dogs are in the North West. I mean, that really is adding insult to injury. They never asked me. I’d have put them right straight away.

Elaine Pendlebury, a senior vet at the PDSA, was quoted as saying: ‘If a dog wants attention, owners should be taking it out for a walk or playing with it rather than throwing them a bit of food from their plate.’

I don’t want attention, I want a more generous training diet. Anyway, must go – I’m just going to give my pal Al a pathetic look and see if he’ll give me a Bonio.
