Training Dog Blog – Moore Good Times

I think my pal Al and Judy (Mum and Dad) are at last getting the message about long car journeys………I just don’t do motorway travel unless it’s really necessary.
They’d had a bit of a debate early in the week about whether they should take me to London where Al was working. I ask you, do I look like a city hound? I also had no interest in sitting in a stuffy car while they went to a Henry Moore exhibition at Kew Gardens (an institution so misguided it doesn’t even allow dogs inside).
So I took myself off for a little holiday for three days. I packed my smart new travel panniers with lots of treats, got Mum to carry my bed and off we tripped across the fields to stay with my friends Paul and Jenny. Paul’s a sculptor and I just love his modern bronzes of animals. Very clever stuff – in fact, I’d rather have his creations than a Henry Moore any day.
Anyway, let’s cut to the chase! I like them even more because Paul in particular is like soft clay in my paws. He’s a real sucker for a hang-human look and tosses me treats all day. Oh, how I love staying with them! No training regime, warm fire, no cats and plenty of good nosh.
Mum and Dad picked me up after breakfast on Sunday. I’d already had a walk but M&D were feeling so guilty they took me over Ladder Hill. It was a bit windy so there was a distinct lack of squirrels to chase in the woods. But I made up for it when I got back. I surprised that wretched moggie Narla from next door strolling across my garden as if she owned it. Gave her the fright of her life – I was about a whisker away from her tail as she shot back over the wall with a pathetic shriek. And I’ve just unearthed last week’s giant bone for another great chew. The end of a purr-fect week!
