Dog Blog 16 – Biking Mad 12.5.08

Mad! Completely mad! I think he’s taken leave of his senses.
My pal Al was up before 5 o’clock this morning looking very much as if he intended to go for a bike ride. But just in case he had any thoughts of an early morning walk I kept my head well down and pretended I was asleep.
The minute the back door closed I shot upstairs and settled comfortably on his side of the bed. Still nice and warm! Sadly, he’d forgotten his watch and came back upstairs. He caught me absolutely red pawed so I gave him a rather a pathetic look, wagged my tail weakly and he went off shaking his head. Great!
However, I wouldn’t like you to think that I’m shirking my training plan. No, the pace has really quickened over the past couple of weeks. Brisk, 4-hour walks with Judy mid-week and wonderful early evening forays to Toddbrook reservoir across the field. The warm weather means that I can now swim every day and I’ve muscled up nicely – even if I do say so myself.
I’m really getting quite excited. Can’t believe that the Big Walk is now next week. Mad Al is now talking about bringing the start time forward to 2am so they can complete the bike ride before sunrise. As I said, biking mad!
