Dog Blog – Everything going Swimmingly 12.4.08
Fantastic! Had my first proper swim of the year yesterday. Despite strong hints
from Yours Truly, my pal Al has refused to let me swim in the canal reservoir.
Says the water’s too cold just now. He’s so over-protective sometimes.
Anyway, he took me to my favourite pool in Todd Brook. The winter rains have
really gouged it out and Dad has got pretty skilful at chucking sticks in just
the right place so that I have a good paddle about. Really refreshing and great
training for the Big Day next month.
Talking of water, our pond was raided by a couple of mallard ducks early the
other morning. Mum was incensed and sent me out to have a real good shout at
them. When Dad got back he was furious as the wretched ducks had eaten some of
his precious frogspawn.
He really does love those amphibians. Do you know, he won’t let me out for my
evening potter round the garden until he’s done a newt rescue on the patio (just
in case I tread on them). He picked up 10 last night and returned them to the
pond. Mad as a bucket of frogs, if you ask me!
P.S. By the way, I have no idea what these newts are training for but they’re
wandering all over the garden on their little rubbery legs. A real newt
marathon.
